Silly Question about 4L60E
Why can't we replace our 700R4's with 4th gen 4L60Es? Is it something to do with the computer? I understand the computer in a 4th gen controls the shifts moreso then ours. I've always wondered since the 4L60's hold up to the torque of LT1/LS1's.

Yes, it is the computer, but I hear that a company makes a seperate computer that ties in with the ECM to make it work.
As for the 4L60-E being stronger, not really. The only difference in the two is the electronic controls, the guts are still the same. Now it is true that the trannies got better over the years, but the internals are *almost* the same as when the 700R-4 was first introduced in 1982.
