Transgo shift kit???

I was looking to install a shift kit and hear that transgo is the best. Anyone done an install on this. Any tricks? I have never installed a shift kit and was wondering if there is anything I should know. Also, will the transgo kit eliminate the 4th to third downshift at WOT?

If not, does anyone know how to install the valve from GM for the B4C cars that eliminates this? I have the valve from GM (part # 8673948) but have zero instructions on its instalation. I don't even know what part this is meant to replace. Is it the same as the B&M part? I have heard it is a different valve.

Does anyone have any info for me? Has anyone installed a shift kit themselves? I would appreciate any advice anyone could give. I have very little transmission experience and would like to avoid any forseeable problems. I cannot find a reputable transmission shop in my area willing to install one and I would rather try it myself first.

This was my response to a similar post below about the Trans Go kit. Now I have heard of people installing them, but there are hundreds of parts. It pretty much sucked!

>>>It is by no means easy! I tried to install one of these in my 86 Trans Am and needless to say it has been sitting for almost two years, because I haven't wanted to fool with it again.

I had my 700r4 rebuilt in my '86 IROC last year by an expensive transmission shop and I had them install a TransGo kit. The shop workers told me that it took them the better part of the day to install it and I was also told that it was the best but i feel that it shifts quite mushy and early and i am really dissapointed with it. So i've decided to do a T-5 swap this winter

I dunno about it shifting mushy, mine shifts rather snappy....No problem hitting gears when i need to, thats for sure.

I've had good luck with the B&M TransPak (not the cheapo Shift Improver Kit). Not too hard and shifts nice. 2 levels of firmness in kit but there actually about 6, if you only put in partial spacers/springs, etc... B&M and trans shop taught me that one... Only $50 ish... Not real hard to put in, but not really easy, either. Just gotta be patient and clean.
