If you have any amount of power then you need posi if you want to launch.

Driving around on the street I doubt you'd really notice any difference. It you drive hard from stop light to stop light and you constantly spin the right rear tire then a posi will help.
When you launch, the torque through the differential tries to lift the right rear wheel. Once the wheel lifts all the power through an open diff is transmitted to the wheel with the least resistance. The left wheel gets very little power and you sit there and spin the righ one. With a posi, power is transmitted equally to both wheels or it's transmitted to the wheel with the most resistance. Even if one wheel is off the ground the car will still move.
