Lock up harness

I was wondering what the Lock-up harness does? It's part number 530-155-0015 in JEGS. And if it's something that would help in a 700R4.

Also what kind of tranny cooler would you reccomend? Thank you very much

Wally

This harness, as well as the Crane and some other brand, keeps the torque converter clutch (TCC) from locking up in any gear but 4th (OD). I had gotten tired of the TCC locking and unlocking driving in traffic while speeding up and slowing down around 30-40 mph. Also, the TCC usually locks up in 3rd gear at around 75-80 mph at WOT, which holds the rpms down. With the 3.42 gears in my IROC, I was going through the traps (1/4 mile drag-racing) at around 4000 rpm with the TCC locking up. W/out it locking up, my engine speed increased to 4300-4400 rpm, which also helped boost my trap speed.

I have the B&M "stack-plate" tranny cooler, part number 70268. This is the largest 3/4"-wide cooler they have and has worked fine for me while road-racing in 90-100 degree weather. This design of tranny cooler is lightweight and very efficient from what I've heard.
