Need info on tranny swap from '91 Caprice to '89 IROC
Hey all... I pulled the trans on the '89 a couple of days ago because it was slipping really bad in all gears, and the governor finally started to stick. Anyway, I have a newly rebuilt trans from a '91 305 "Special Service" Caprice (ex-fire chiefs car).
I swapped the case extension w/ the speedo gear, the TV cable, dipstick, and gear select lever piece. The governor is on order from GM, and I'm assuming it's all right to keep the Caprice converter in since it more than likely has a higher stall. I would swap them, but I'm afraid of all the debris that might be hiding in the bad trans' fluid. Am I missing anything? Thanks. - John '89 L98
