Short stick shifter
Anything is better than the stock shifter. I believe both short throw shifters you refer to both have "stops" unlike the stock transmission shifter where you can actually travel over the gear. The stops are one of the better features of the stock shifter. However, I do not own either of these so I can't compare the how short each one's throw is.

I have the Ripper. The throw is shorter than the stock, but more importantly to me is the sure, firm feel of the shifts themselves. I only wish I'd swapped sooner. Wouldn't have the stock again.

My guess is an inch shorter than the orginal. With leather ball and boots, it looks stock.
