is the zexel posi unit worth it?
i saw the post about the zexel posi unit,,,is this a good unit,,,and in the package slp is selling are the ring and pinion gears qualitly gears?....does anyone have any pros and cons about the zexel unit?....help

From what I've heard and read, the Zexel-Torsen seems to be a good deal. Price-wise, it's a real good deal. I'm not sure what brand gears are included, though admittedly I probably could not attest to their quality anyways. Personnally, I would rather stick with GM gears. One con about the Zexel unit, at least for you if you were planning to put into your '86 TA is that it is only for 10-bolt rears. It will not work in your 9-bolt rear. Hope that helps.
you also need 28 spline axles that did not come in f-body cars until 1990. You can replace your stock 26 spline axles for the 28 splines with no problem. But like Dana92RS said, it won't work in your 9-bolt rear...sorry but those things are a pain in the rear to find parts for and if you do they are expensive! I have one sitting in my garage b/c of that reason with 2.77 gears. $800 for a new posi and 3.45 gears!
