lakewood bellhousing

Just picked up a lakewood bellhousing and was wondering what the purpose of the plate that comes with it is for.(goes between bellhousing and engine) Is this used in our type of application? Thanks guys

the motor plate is there to contain a clutch or flywheel explosion so it does not go forward of the housing

agreed, it is required for the bell to do its job, though you dont need it to install the trans. I would reccomend you do install it, since you spent the money for the blow proof housing it might as well install it so it will contain the blast.

On the motor plate there is a hole for the starter and a piece that can be knocked out to open it up more do I need to remove this piece or leave it? Thanks for the help.

Trial fit it with the starter you are going to use. I knocked it out on mine, but once I installed the started I realized I didn't have to. Just mock it up and check.
