How much $$$ for T5 conversion

How much does a typical T5 conversion cost, including all the parts? I'm planning to do this myself sometime. Can't go for a T56 because I don't plan to keep this car for a lot longer.

Why swap it then? Automatic cars are worth more money to the average person.

I used to think that too until I started shopping around for a 5spd IROC and found that they cost at least $1000 more than auto cars. Very few Camaro owners actually know the difference in cams, so that would not be the reason. I suspect the manual car is a blast to drive compared to the crappy auto which feels more like a 4 cylinder hopped to go fast.

I just want a decent 305 TPI 5spd Camaro b/w 88 and 91, for around $3000. Is that too little? I don't think so. It doesn't have to be showroom condition. Just looking for something clean and well kept.

$1400?? That much for a lowly T5? Man, if the T56 costs only a few hundred more, rather go for that.

It all depends on what you get and how you get it. If you find a complete t-5 parts car and can make good profit on the parts you may get it for nothing or if you take your risk buying uses parts you could end up at around $1000. I bought everything (with a 5000 mile clutch and rebuilt a year ago) I needed minus pedals for $550, then the mast. cylinder leaked so I bought a whole new set of hydraulics for $120. The flywheel blued on me so I replaced that and the clutch for about $300. I could of gotten away with the $550 but it was more worth it to me just for it to be reliable. T56 swaps also can be had for about $1200 - $2000 depending on what you buy and how you buy it.

Also, if you plan to sell it to a young kid the manual will get your more money. Most people that are younger are amazed with manuals however guys who are 45+ are usually tired of shifting and want the car to do it for them.
