HOW DO I GET THE DAMN EBRAKE CABLE OFF!!

I am in the process right now of doing a drum rear swap and have gotten everything disconnected except the ebrake cable. It says nothing about it in the Haynes manual. The haynes manual also skipped over a few important steps in removing the rear end, such as remove the track bar. I'm really losing faith in the Haynes..........

easiest way is the full cable. loosen the cable bracket in the trans tunnel. squeeze the cable at the frame bracket, and unlock it from the s hook

If you are trying to get the e-brake from the backing plate the best way I have found is to use a deep well socket. Can't remeber what size I used but just slide it over the cable to the retaining bracket to release the tabs you wil just have to experiment with different size sockets

Put a small hose clamp around the sprung out tabs about 1/4" away from the backing plate, tighten the clamp until the tabs are compressed, pull the cable back about 1/4" up against the clamp, while pulling back on the cable release the clamp by unscrewing and the cable should pull right out!
