How much HP can 700R4 take?

How much HP can a stock 700R4 in decent shape handle before it self destructs?

Transmissions dont "take" horsepower but TORQUE. And a stock transmission can take up to about 400 lb. ft. as far as I know.

Axle/Gears: 10-bolt w/3.73s
yeah i am going to have to agree with Blade on that one..i have heard 450 ft.lbs., so anywhere from 400-450.

If I plan on making more than 450ft.lbs., what automatic trans should I consider?

Engine: GTA: 350 w/Vortec heads, T/A: 305
Transmission: Pro-built 700R4
Axle/Gears: GTA: 3.27, T/A: 2.73
Check out transmissioncenter.net. I am going with one of their "Raptor" 700R4 trannies. They claim up to 600hp, and are very personable people. The price isn't to bad either.
