Questions about! Gears Gears gears gears
if i currently have a set of 2.73s in my car now is my carrier a series II?(for example if i wanted to buy gears, then would i need to get the set specified for a 3.08 and numeriacly lower?) I have a 1991 camaro, w/700R4 and i'm also wondering if i should mabe get 3.73s? Also do these come with a new speedo gear, or would i need to purchase one of those also?

That's right, you have a two series carrier and you'll need gears for the 3.08s and under when looking for parts in a catalog. The speedo gears do not come with the new ring & pinion, but they're pretty cheap at the dealer.
If you have 2.73s you probably have an auto I'm guessing. I'd recommend going to Richmond's web site, they have a calculator on there and you input some specific things and it'll tell you what your new RPMs will be with 3.73s at any speed you choose. If the RPM increase is acceptible than I'd suggest go ahead and do it, but I doubt very seriously it will be.
Hope this helps,
Jason

Car: 82 camaro SC
Engine: 350
Transmission: 700r4
With the overdrive I think the 3.73's are great. I run about 2100 at 60mph with 3.73 gears, 700r4, and 245/50r16 tires. Before the overdrive was installed, I ran 3000 at 60mph. I've been running the series 2 3.73 richmond gears for quite a while without any problems or noise. Originally I had 3.08's. 3.73 gears will really 'wake up' your car, especially around town and launching.
