What brand of flywheel
I'm changing out my jobber clutch for a center force one and have discovered that I'll likely new a new flywheel (it has been resurfaced once before when I bought the car but it doesn't look too good now).
I can get a CenterForce or Hayes for about $450.00CAD or a Pioneer for $150.00CAD. The guy told me that the Pionner is equivilent to what I would get from any autoparts store.
My engine at the moment is a stock 350 mated to a T5. However, upgrades due in February '09 will push my power output to around 350 HP.
Can I get away with the cheaper flywheel? It's not so much the cost as availablility. What are the primary differrences (thickness??)?
Also, I've heard of lighter weight steel or all-aluminum flywheels. What are the trade offs and is there any application for such parts for a street only vehicle?
Thanks,
Jon

Re: What brand of flywheel
I'm running the GM OE lightweight (16 pounds vs. 25 or so) and CenterForce II behind my 350/330. I too run a T-5. The lighter weight spools up and down rapidly, so you'll have to learn either to shifter more quickly or give the engine a bit of gas for even shifts.

Re: What brand of flywheel
Jonathan, look at www.specclutches.com for a flywheel. I bought mine with my Spec Stage3 clutch kit.
