how much torque can the stock axles in my '91 RS handle? With all of the mods that I have, I think I will be putting out some substantial torque. Let's say 400 ft.lbs. to be safe - really safe.

I want to beef up my rear end this spring, and I want to be sure I don't have to do it again any time soon.

I plan on getting a new differential (with limited slip), with new gears (3.73s). I have drum rear brakes.

Keep in mind that I have the (stronger) 28-spline axles. I am pretty sure that I should get new axles, but I really don't know too much about what the hell I am looking for.

What do you guys think? What should I look for in axles? Where can I fond them?

Thanks a lot for the info.

Axles aren't the weak point. I would get some richmond gears, a powertrax locker, HD diff. cover with the bearing preload, weld the axle tubes to the housing, etc. You will tear the gears apart long before the axle's get hurt.
