700R4 or TH350? ? please help

I am undecided as to weather or not I should spend a tone of cash for a 700r4 again or just build a TH350. I have a built motor making almost 450ftlbs NA. I will also be spraying a 200 shot on top of that. I have had 700's last but not with that much HP and TQ. Any opinions would be great. I had a 2800 10in non lock up stall in my 700, and was think ing of going to a TH350 with a 3500 stall. I know the TH 350 can handle that and a 700R4 could too if I spen 2000.00 bucks. I really do not want to spend that kind of money for a Tranny that might last. ANy help would be great..

Im in the same boat.I just rebuilt my 700R4 3 months ago, only to blow it up 2 weeks ago.
I cant decide to either spend $2500 for a built 700R4 or go with a TH400 that can handle the power. The ony thing is,that I like the overdrive on the highway.
When I get to the track this spring, this car should run 11's with 175HP nitrous shot.

I too HAD this problem. I installed the TH-350 and things have been O.K. Installion wasn't too big of a deal.

I am currently struggling with the torque convertor. I was told that the TC that came w/ the trany was a 2400 stall but it wasn't.

Now I need to change the TC and I am tring to figure out how to install a Lockup convertor. Because I didn't install a TH-350C, which I am told has the ability to control a lockup TC.

The highway driving isn't too bad at all. Gas mileage went down a bit and it would still be nice to have OD but once I got used to it I can hardly remember what it was like.

Check out transmissioncenter.net. They claim their 700R4's can handle 600hp. They have a pretty impressive write up on it and it comes with a torque converter with whatever stall you want.

There is also a website that claims they have a setup that can handle 600hp, the website is www.thetrannydoctor.com
