Electric Speedo to Mechanical?

My car is set up for a mechanical speedo cable. However, if I buy a transmission that takes an electric speedo cable, what is involved to change it over to mechanical?

IIRC, simply plug your current set-up into the new trans. A search will provide more info.

?
Well, you'd need an electric speedometer in your cluster. Some people take a mechanical style tranny and use an adapter to get an electronic signal for an electronic speedo. I don't think you can go backwards, so I think you'll need an electronic speedometer

Re: Electric Speedo to Mechanical?

As James said, the speedo setups in the transmissions are interchangable. Take your cable speedo setup from your old trans and put it into the new trans. However, this only works if the tranny's are the same, both 700R4's or both T5's. You cannot put a T5 speedo into a 700R4 or vice-versa.
