Positrack ID
I could very well be wrong on this, but I have the RPO code of G80 which is the positraction, limited slip. I also believe the RPO #'s should be located in your center consol, mine were. Hope this helps atleast a little bit
the burn out test only works if the posi does., rpo only works if it's not been changed. all the posi rears i've ever saw had a metal tag on the cover, that would be something to look for too. i'd go rpo, burn out, and then pull the cover and see.

I'd skip the other steps for the reasons ede mentioned and go straight to pulling off the cover... if the fluid hasn't been changed lately, it needs it anyway, good excuse to pull the cover.

I have never seen a worn out posi so that one could not do a two legged burnout. Has ANYONE seen this?
You can also put the car in neutral, lift up one rear wheel and see if it rotates. If it rotates, non-posi. If it is "locked", posi.
Again I have never seen a worn out posi that failed this test (about 30 rear ends to sway my voting).
Is it possible that a posi carrier act like a peg-legger, yes.
Is it possible to put a Ford engine into a 3 gen Camaro, yes, but you don't see it.
