transmission skips gears
hi guys,
Im about to buy an 82 trans am, but the guy told me that the transmission will skip 2nd gear and go straight to third. i was wondering if this is truly a serious problem, or is there something i can do to remedy the problem without buying a new transmission. if i need a new one theres nothing i can do about it, but im really trying to avoid it. Thanks!

Which tranny is it? 200C or 700R4?
If its a 700R4 than I would say the 2-4 band is shot or a problem with the servo or 2-3 shift valve.
It probably has to rev out pretty high in 1st to get into 3rd also. Needs a rebuild
