700R4 Help Please

I took out the 3.1 FI V6 with 700R4 trans out of my 91 camaro RS and I am putting in SBC 350 4bolt main with a 700R4 out of a 1988 gmc/s-10 4x4. I notice the output shaft are different length when I pulled tail shaft cover of the one from camaro but the splines matches up with drive shaft. So what do I do? take them apart and switch the output shaft or what? I guess if I would have gotten newer trans I wouldnt have this problem but the price was right. Any info will be greatly appreciated Thanks

Yes. There are about 6 different output shafts in the 700R4's.

AWD (sy/ty)
4WD
Corvette
Std with short end splines
Std with long end splines

You should be able to reuse the one from the V6 tranny.

Ok cool thanks for that info. Is there a certain way to remove the output shaft? do you have to remove the governor assembly to do it?
