400 small block with 700r4 ??
I have a 87 TA that I'm going to be putting a carburated 400 in;I would like to keep my 700r4 in the car but how can I get it to work right without the tpi on it or maybe it won't work at all? Not sure just thought somebody out there must know..Any info would help!
Use the TV cable and bracket from a carbed
Camaro of similar year. Salvage yard should be able to help you here. Carb must have the
proper ratio throttle arm (such as Q-jet on
Camaro w/ 700-r4) or transmission damage will
likely occur. Starter with diagonal mounting
holes to mate with the 400's 168 tooth (14")
flexplate will be needed (or a hi-torque such as sold by Summit which has holes for 168t and 153t flexplates. A new radiator will
probably be needed.
