differance between trans

the douche i bought this car from gave a shytload of extra parts, 2 of which he claimed was a blown 700r4, and a good TH350. i come from LS1s and 2nd gens with T10s......this is my first try into 3rd gens. how do you tell the differance between the 2? theyre both out, laying on the floor. i know the 700r4 is longer, but havent measured them yet. one does have a plug for a 4 pin harness type connector, while the other doesnt.

Re: differance between trans

the 4-pin plug is where you connect the wiring for the lockup torque converter. 700R-4. Also, the TH350 should have a vacuum modulator, or at least a hole for one, just above and to the passenger side of the mount.
The oilpan is another way. TH350 pan has a corner that's "cut" while 700R-4 pan is nearly perfectly square in comparison.
A 700R-4 has the same gear ratios as the 4L60E used behind the LS1s
