Raybestos Z Pack 3/4 clutch kit
Raybestos Z Pack 3/4 clutch kit
Has anyone used this? I was having some trouble with my 4L60E slipping in
4th gear. I decided to pull it out and inspect the band and 3-4 clutch. the band looks cool but the 3-4 clutch shows some signs of extreme heat, blue heat marks. It currently only has the 6 friction set up and I want to upgrade it to something that will last. Surprisingly enough it has held up pretty decent with 525+lb/ft of torque at the wheels.

I don't know a thing about that kit, but my '95 Z28's 4L60E lost fourth, so I ordered TCI's best kit, and it gave me the 9-plate setup. That wasn't difficult. That, an upgraded band, and the billet 4th gear servo should solve your problem, though I don't know what exactly you heat-blued. With that much torque maybe you ought to invest in the so called Beast sun shell/input drum setup. It's a stronger, aftermarket upgrade. Anyway, if you do the servo, you may as well add a billet second gear servo while you're there.
Re: Raybestos Z Pack 3/4 clutch kit
I plan on upgrading to the wider band. I already have the beast sun shell in a 700R4 and I plan on robbing it out. I have the vette servo for 2nd and I already have the billet 4th servo. I was looking for the steel reinforcement sleeve that gets pressed on to the input drum as well.
The 3-4 steel plates are what I heated up. I have heard some negetive things about the 9 disc setup mainly because the steels are thinner.
