3.73 From Hawks

Hi im new to the forum and was wondering if any body had ever got a used rear end from Hawks. I have a 1992 Camaro RS and would like to put a different rear end with 3.73 gears and its a posi. Just wondering if anybody has had experiences from them , Also is this a rear end that would go well with my 383 stroker , 700r4 setup?

Thanks
Tyler

Re: 3.73 From Hawks

I have not gotten anything from Hawks yet, but I haven't heard anything bad about them.
You may want to ask if it's a rebuilt rear end. If not it would be like pulling one from a junkyard. Could break at anytime, or could last for years.

Behind a 383, you are probably better off with an aftermarket axle. Depends on how strong of an engine you have though.

Considering what Hawks charges for one of their rears the last time I looked, you'd be better off just getting a new posi unit and a new set of 3.73 gears, and have them installed in your existing rear. If you insist on wanting disc brakes, get one from a junkyard and upgrade the gears in that one.

I dont mind having drum brakes. : )
But how much would it cost to go that route?
Thanks
