mechanical linkage t5?
could i use my t5 with mechanical linkage? i am thinking about putting my t5 in my 69 firebird and was wondering what all i needed to make this trans work with a z-bar setup, i am sure the clutch is probably different but is it possibly?
also will a t5 bolt up to a 4-speed bellhousing and could i use the four speed clutch?

If by mechanical linkage you mean clutch linkage the answer is yes.
The clutch disc is the same as any 26 spline 1-1/8 set up. So a clutch disc that will work on a Jerico or 26 spline Muncie 4-speed will also work on your T-5.
An F-body T5 will not bolt up correctly to a factory 4 speed bellhousing. The reason for this is that the F-body T5 is canted to fit into the tunnel. You can buy aftermarket bellhousings that have the canted T5 pattern.

i have never worked on or even seen a mechanical type clutch linkage. what all would be needed to work the clutch, i am sure the throwout bearing will not work.
a more simple question, my dad has a 65 suburban. he is wanting to take out his four speed and put my t5 in place, i would rather use the clutch linkage that is there instead of using the hydro assembly. how hard would it be to use his clutch linkage with this t5?
Re: mechanical linkage t5?
The weight of a suburban will likely kill a T5 in short time.
The trans has next-to nothing to do with the clutch used(only the disc splines need work) and nothing at all to do with the clutch actuatation(sp?). You can put the a T5 in up-right, but you'll have to fabricate a rear mount bracket to square it up.
A mechanical clutch will need all the original pieces(link rods, z-bar, etc) and the corresponding bellhousing.
