grr..broke something...on my 700r4

ok, so i was installing my megashifter yesterday, I crawled under the car to put the new cable in and such, the little arm/bracket linkage that you move to change gears, I went to take that nut off, and it busted the whole stud off.. I was pissed.

The little square beg thing that the bracket goes in, is still there so my question is, how do i go about fixing this?

Re: grr..broke something...on my 700r4

In case what i said was a little confusing, heres a pic.

first of all, this is not my transmission, its a picture i found online, I just wanted to point out with was broke.

when i went to take the linkage arm off, the nut circled broke the whole bolt/stud off with it..

there is a square/rectangle peg on the back of the stud the the arm sits on to shift the transmission, that is still there..

so my question is, how do i go about fixing this? someone mentioned to me.. drilling out the stud and threading it so i can screw a bolt in, for some reason, that didnt seem like a good idea to me.

I'm kind of at the point wondering if i should just get it welded on or something.. because its looking like the only way to fix it.. the right was is to drop the transmission, and pull it apart.. and put in a new stud/bolt from the inside.. am i correct on this?

You don't have to drop the trans to swap the shift selector shaft. You just have to drop the pan. - Swapping it is definitely the best solution.
