700r4 not shifting at WOT??

Hey guys. I was all excited the other day because it was finally nice enough to try out the old G-tech.
I drop the 700r4 in 1st gear because I prefer manually shifting the tranny. I take off and the motor is at about 6000rpm when I shift it into 2nd. The tranny isn't shifting, but I stay on it until 6500rpm, but it still hasn't shifted yet. Well, I wasn't ready to blow my motor, so I get off the gas and it shifted finally, so I jump on it again.

The same thing happened with the 2-3 shift. I was pissed off, but was still kinda chuckling to myself when the G-tech read 14.3. Not too bad for having to lift my foot off the gas twice and terrible traction of the line.

Unfortunately, I was so paranoid after making the run since I'm running an open y-pipe and it's DAMN loud when I make a run, I took off without just putting the trans in Drive and seeing if it would just shift on its own.

Is my trans starting to go or what?

It sounds like the clutches are worn inside. Mine when before it was rebuilt , would always come out of od if you gave it any gas on the highway. When i opened it up the bands were all worn. Check your fluid , level and smell . Sounds bad though

Could it be a misadjusted TV cable?

Try resetting the T.V. cable. Depress the button, pull the cable all of the way twards the cab, let go of the button, slowly (with engine off) open the throttle to wide open. Thats it.

Probably more like a cooked band and/or smoked 3-4 clutch pack. Mine acted the same way and after examining the band, it was wore right into the rivets that hold the friction stuff on. You can see where it slipped and overheated. Probably like a fan belt in that the more you let it slip between shifts the more it will slip next time. The band has to stop the drum from turning before 2nd gear will be realized.
