Hurst Shifter T-10 question

I am about to take delivery of an 88 GTA that has had a BW Super T-10 with a Hurst shifter swapped in. However, it is a little difficult to put the car in gear, especially reverse. Is this something to do with the shifter? The only other manual tranny I have ever owned was in a 99 Dakota, and it was very easy to shift it. Is it normally difficult for a Hurst to be hard to move?

Also, I read on here something about setting the shifter using a little tool that came with it; if I need to do this, how can I go about getting the tool and instructions? My friend got the tranny from someone on this site and installed it, as far as I know the rods are OK (they have new bushings) and the shifter wasn't touched since he opened the package.

Any help out there? I appreciate it!

Re: Hurst Shifter T-10 question

The ST10 is a fairly 'stiff' shifting trans... mine is alot stiffer than my T56, for example. Mine also has the Hurst shifter on it.

Other than that... are you sure the clutch is disengaging all the way? That can prossibly make it stiffer than normal.

Re: Hurst Shifter T-10 question

I honestly don't know if the clutch is engaged, I'm going to assume it is. The slave cylinder is not bolted or bled right now, so there is nothing that pushes against the clutch fork to engage/disengage the clutch. It probably is engaged right now because it's parked; once I get the slave cylinder worked out, I'll be able to release the clutch and try it.
