Once i posted a question on gears and someone said that since i have an automatic i should buy a torque converter.I know it is suppose to help your acceleration and such but i would like to get some info from those that have experience with them.If possible can you tell me where i can get it and the part number and what it might run me to have it installed.Thanxs guys.

The general idea is to get a torque converter that allows a little more slippage until you get to the point that your engines powerband really kicks in. For example, if your engine didn't really start picking up power until 3000 RPM, you would want a converter rated around 3000 RPM so you would get max launch potential and acceleration. This is more for racing type stuff though. On the street, for a daily driver, maybe something around 2000 stall. There are a lot more factors that go into picking a torque converter, such as vehicle weight, rear end gearing, and engine torque.

The down side is that the extra slippage creates more heat, and will cost ya some mpg on the average street car.

Your best bet to pick one would be to call someone like B&M, TCI, or maybe Summit and talk to them, but you can search on this board for opinions on the best brand for your car, and there should be plenty more posts filling in whatever i missed/got wrong
