My 700r4 needs a rebuild. I'm curious as to what my best option would be. Buying a total rebuilt unit from someone for $1200+ or rebuilding my current trans. I will need it to be capable of at least 450HP and will want a 2200-2500 stall TC as well. Would I be better off buying one of your rebuild kits and a TC or buying a whole new trans considering I currently have an 85? Also, what would you consider to be a good price for a rebuild?

I just installed a "Raptor" kit in a friends car, and I have mixed feelings about it. They screwed us on the sprag, VB gaskets, gave us inferior seals, luckily for me, I had spare parts to make it all work, but I won't go there. These kits are not designed for the DIYer. If you have no clue, call one of the "builders" and tell them what you want, and let them build it for you.

The rebuild kits I carry use only top material such as Borg Warner clutches, bands & sprags, Alto steels, Sealed Power filters, National front & rear seals, Clevite & Dupont (teflon) bushings, Transtec paper & rubber kits, American made sealing rings,& Trans-Go Shift & Performance Shift kits, GM intermediate/reverse boost valve. I even include a new stator support. For torque converters I use & distribute Continental (non-lockups), Precision Industries Vigilante (lockups). If I left something out I apologize. If you are looking at doing it yourself, then I would have someone who is very familar with this transmission help you out so as to avoid unnesessary problems . To build you a custom built transmission I need to know the particulars on your vehicle, rear end gear ratio, what has been done to the motor, type of driving you do, etc. Please give me a call 800 7763288 Mon-Sat 10-6 PST, or if you get this message before midnight on Sunday give me a call and I will answer any questions you might have. I give a one year warranty on both the transmission & torque converters.
Hope this helps!
