pilot bearing for t56

I am installing an OEM t56 behind an old style (two piece rear main) engine. Do I need to get a special pilot bearing to work with the t56, or can I just use the same type of pilot bearing that goes in the back of the two-piece seal crankshaft? Do all Chevy v8s use the same pilot bearing all the way through fourth gen applications? I already have the special flywheel that this combo requires. Thanks - Bill

I'm pretty sure they are all the same. I used a regular bronze pilot bushing that you can get at any auto parts store for less than $5.

I just went through this Saturday. I have a 97 six speed behind a 87 block. The pilot bearings are the same part number. If you want to make sure, go to your parts store and check, say a 85 Z-28 with a t-5 and compare it to a Z from the year of you T-56.
