I posted this already and had only one guy reply. I would like a second opinion. 4 months ago I had a leak coming out of the center of my slip yolk where my driveshaft hoohs up. I changed the filter and it stopped the leak. Last week I had another leak at my rear tailshaft seal. I changed that and now it is leaking AGAIN from the center of the slip yolk even worse than before. What do I do?

The one guy who replied to my previous post said just weld the hole shut and go on my way. That sounds pretty good and all but will it cause more problems than fix?

This is on my 85 gmc sierra. It has a 305/th350. Help please I don't know if I should change the filter again or weld up the hole. I can take pics if need be

Re: !!!HELP!!!please
you can change the filter eleventy-million times if you want, but it will not stop the leak. It was most likely pure coincidence it stopped in the first place.

As for welding, i would take the yoke to a good welder who knows what he is doing, im not sure you can just weld to forged/cast steel without causing any possible issues with cracking of the metal. Maybe JB weld it?

if the rear seal is leaking, it will need to be replaced, and since you will have the driveshaft out, now is the perfect time for that as well.

Re: !!!HELP!!!please
I just changed the seal last week. As for the weld, I went to welding school and that is not a problem but what you are saying is it will not cause further problems by closing it up?

Re: !!!HELP!!!please
My dad had a vehicle that leaked like that. It was just a slow, low pressure leak. He used silicone glue to seal it. Use carb cleaner to remove oil before using glue. It worked just fine for a long time.

I would not weld it.
