700r4 question/problem
700r4 question/problem
I had a 700r4 that was sitting around for about 2 years. I recently put it in my s-10 and it doesn't shift out of 1st gear. I'm pretty sure it's not the t.v. cable because i tried adjusting it several times. After i removed the pan and the accumulator housing, i noticed there's no spring for the 1-2 accumulator where my haynes manual shows there is supposed to be one. Is this normal, or am i missing something? Any ideas or comments appreciated.

Some shift kits take the spring out and replace them with solid bushings. As long as the piston was in there and the seal was good on the piston.
Another good place to look is the governor. Check to make sure the greenish plastic gear isn't chewed up.
If nothing yet, rip the servo out and inspect all the seals. Even if one of these seals goes it usually still flares into second. No second at all usually = governor problem.
