NON COMPUTER 700r4

What do i need to take the computer off the tranny and make it run fine.I posted before about the TCI Torque converter lockup kit from from jegs that locks up 4th gear.is there anything else i will need to switch it to non computer controlled tranny.I really want to keep a 4th gear or i would have switched to a th 350.
Thanks for your help...........

The 700r4 doesn't have a computer. Even the main computer doesn't 'control' the tranny. All it does is lock and unlock the torque convertor. The tci kit will take car of that.

I was told also that 1,2,3 gear had to lock up also and that the TCI converter lock up only works on the 4 gear and that ill burn out the tranny by using the other gears. Is this true..
Thanks

First gear will NEVER lock up, second SHOULD NOT be locked up, third MAY be locked up, and fourth MUST be locked up.

thats interesting way of putting it. mine (when i had it) would lock up according to how much strain i put on it, if i held it in second and let it cruise lightly it would lock up. in third gear it would lock up also if i was light on it, and same with forth. if i stepped into it tho, it would seem like it downshifted, when in fact it UNLOCKED the torque converter to get higher rpms quicker. all it does it bring down the rpms, cool the converter, and save some gas. and add a little speed if your doing 120 MPH in overdrive and wana get more top end :-)

think about the B&M kit it costs more but it lets you control when the converter locks up (which MPH) It also has an indicator light on it so you can see when it engages so you can adjust it accordingly.
