T5 Help

Can anyone tell me if non-WC T5s came with a VSS like the autos (two wires going to a gizmo in the tailshaft)?

If so can you tell me the GM part number or rpo code for it.

Thanks a bunch!

Is it made to fit on the tailshaft?

Right now I have a VSS from a 700R4(see sig above) but it is too big to fit in the tailshaft and my improvised adapter is not working too well.

Thanks

Only the 87 Firebird, as its the only non-WC trans used with an electronic speedo. The WC trans was used from 88+.

Does anyone know if this VSS will DEFINITELY work? It sounds very promising but I would like to be certian (or close anyway).

Thanks

To answer my own question, a VSS from a later tranny will work just fine.

I used an AutoZone part no. SU1013 VSS made by Wells. Got a gear from a GM dealer and Viola!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction everyone.
