what would be the best bolt in replacement rear end for my 86 camaro ?
just looking for the best thing i can buy used and install 4.11 gears into
prefer disc brakes. and what cars do i look for that had it. thanks

 

The best would be a Moser 12 bolt. You won't find one in a salvage yard. About $2200 new. Next best would be the Dana 44. Probably won't find one of them in a salvage yard either. Next would be the 9 bolt Borg Warner. Lots of them around. You will have to get one with a 3.27 gear if you want to install a 4.11. Most of them had disc brakes. Next would be the '90 and later 10 bolt. These had larger 28 spline axles than the earlier 26 spline axles. You can get a new Eaton posi to go with the 4.10 geare and it will probably hold up pretty well if you don't use too much power and traction. All of these are going to be Camaro or Firebird rear ends. No other rear ends will fit these cars.
