TH700R4/TH350 tailshaft...conversion

i am putting a TH350 in my 89 bird, i dont want to spend 1000 dollars on 700R4 and buy a stall converter. I dont do much of any highway driving so i am not to worried about OD. I know if I use the 6inch tailshaft I can use the same driveshaft. I want to know if I can use the crossmember from the metric200(the tranny with the longer driveshaft, the one you would use with a short shaft TH350. My last question is, since the long shaft TH350 and the 700R4 are basically the same length, give or take a 1/4in, is it possible to swap tailshafts, then having the tourqe arm mount on the TH350. I have both in my garage, I am gonna try it tonight(if i can get the damn thing out of the corner)and see if it will work. I am guessing there is gonna be something different about them, i am sure it cant be that easy. thanks for the help, sorry this was so long.

Best way to do it is to buy a Steve Spohn torque arm. It comes with the correct crossmember for the tranny you intend to use. The torque arm mounts to the crossmember not the tranny. When you put a lot of power to the rear diff and the torque arm wants to lift, do you want all that force on the tailshaft and rear tranny mount?

Best part is that you get rid of the stock torque arm and replace it with a good aftermarket one.
