T5 issues and swap questions
First off, I just swaped a T5 into my 91. I Have a TBI injected 350 that is far from stock. Car was origionally a 305 + 700r4 car. Upon doing the swap, first thing I noticed it is a little hard to get moving. (I think this may be due to my 2.73 gear ratio) This is true for First gear and Reverse. (Or could it be from the computer still looking for the 700r4?) Any Ideas?
Next off, I am having an issue with the engine stumbling when I come out of gear to stop (sometimes even stalls out). This does not happen every time, but enough to be troublesome. Any Ideas?
Lastly, this has to do with the transmission itself. First gear is great. Second gear shifts great, but is noisey (not a gringing sound, more of a howl). Third gear grinds going in, and is annoyingly loud ( same howl but much louder). Fourth grinds going in, but rides great with no sounds. Fifth is a dream, no grind, no sounds. Reverse is louder then I recall from a manual transmission. [I am assuming that the grinding in 3 and 4 is bad syncros, but am curious to other ideas here. I am also assuming the howling is coming from the shaft bearings]
I bought this trans as a package deal (bellhousing, flywheel, hydrolics) and it was dry when I got it. I filled it with 1 qt lucas for manual transmisssions and the rest of it was dextron III. Am I missing something. forget something? overlooking something obvious?

Re: T5 issues and swap questions
first, the T5 used with GM V8s has a 2.95:1 first gear. The tallest axle GM ever attached this to was 3.08:1. When ford wanted a T5/2.73:1 combo, they went with a 3.35:1 first gear. Your T5 should have either a 0.73:1 or 0.63:1 fifth. With the 0.63, I'd suggest at least a 3.42:1, and with 0.73:1, a 3.08:1 should serve, though the TBI 305 did use the 0.63:1 with a 3.08:1.

Re: T5 issues and swap questions
Sorry, the gear ration I listed was for my rear end ... not the transmission. I plan to swap to a 3.23 once I find a good 3 series posi rearend for the swap.
