tremec t56 questions
I have been reading about this tranny, and I think I would like to bolt one of these to the back end of my 406 I am building.
I know that they are used for vipers, and that my 406 probably won't chew it up.
but can anybody give me specs on the tranny, like the torque rating and other stuff.
and if the whole engine bay is clear and half of the interior out, how hard will it be to install one of these? other than the torque arms, crossmember, and the clutch stuff, will it be a nice little bolt in or will I need the big red wrench many many times?
thank you again.

If you're talking about the Borg Wagner T-56 then yes it can be done. There's a how-to at http://www.skulte.com/T56.html they make the crossmembers and they work great. You can find the actual transmissions at www.hpsalvage.com, on ebay or numerous other sites, good luck.
I think the Tremec T-5 was in mustangs? Tremec also makes the TKO which is a SWEET transmission and the TK350 which is nice as well.

Borg Warner makes the 93-97 LT1 T56, which is what you need to bolt to a small block chevy engine. The 98+ T56 is made by Tremec (did Tremec buy Borg-Warner or what?) and its used on LS1's. It has a different bolt pattern that wont work with small block chevy's.
Mustangs used a regular Borg Warner T5, similar to ours but not the same.
