Need Posi unit parts.

Does anybody know where i can get new clutches for my limited slip posi 7.5' 28 spline? I hear that you cant get any. I also looked in my service manual and it says that they are non rebuildable. Would appreciate some advice. Really can't afford to buy a new auburn at the moment. Thanks

Re: Need Posi unit parts.

The Auburn can not be rebuilt. It has steel cones attached to the axle gears. These cones run inside a taper that is cut into the case. The metal wears away and can not be replaced. When an Auburn wears out it is scrap metal. I recommend replacing it with a new Eaton posi and forget about another Auburn.

agreed. auburns when they wear throw CR@P all in the diff fluid and case. basically metal shavings. look at a trac lock or locker or clutch type posi like EATON. they are more expensive but stronger and rebuildable.
