700r4 to 4l60

will a 4l60 fit into my 89 GTA trans am without much hassle?

700R4 and 4L60 are the same thing. 4L60E is different though.

4l60E is basically a computer controlled 700R4. They are the same size but the 4L60E is suppsoed to have some upgrades to make it stronger. Same S**T, different pile!

Engine: 403 LSx (Pending) / 355 Tuned Port
Transmission: T56 Magnum (Pending) / T5
Axle/Gears: 3.42 / ?
4L60E will not work though. Instead of a TV cable, the 4L60E relies on a computer to control line pressures which in turn control virtually all aspects of shifting. A 4L60 will be fine, but NOT a 4L60E.
