Engine: 406sbc
Transmission: 350turbo
identifing diff

how do u tell difference from 9bolt and 10bolt and which is better. I have a diff with rear disc's from 86 camaro susposedly iroc, does anybody know what those cars came with was an auto.

the 9 bolt has 9 bolts in the rear pan and the 10 bolt has 10 bolts in the rear pan. the 9 bolt also has a rubber fill plug in the rear pan. i believe all 9 bolts were posi and disk, but not sure.

thanks for the info. It has ten bolts in the rear pan but is a posi with disc, with the standard fill near the pinion in front.
