little ball screw....

im puting a new clutch in and throw out berring in my camaro.... and on the bellhousing, their is a ball-screw thing that the throw-out berirng fork "pivots" on. does this have to be adjusted? if so, how should i have it? i forgot if it was all the way in the bellhousing before, or if it was out a bit... i really dont want to have to take the tranny out to adjust this thing, if i have it wrong when i have everything together again (the engine is out too).

thanx

My opinion is that it's not too difficult to install the pivot ball tight and put it together to test it out, after all it is all out of the car right? engine and transmission? The throw out bearing should move at least 1/8 inch between the clutch and trans if not the pivot needs adjustment or you need a shorter throw out bearing.

I've never seen an "adjustable" pivot ball, as far as I know they all screw all the way in.

I have seen one that was left loose...it worked its way out and messed up the bell housing...
