ATTN ProBuilt.......

My 86 TA has a GM REMAN 700R4 (circ 1991) with updates that were current at the time. I'm starting to believe that a vette verter was installed at the same time. IF the rear brakes hold (damn non adjusting GM discs) I can flash to 2100-2200 rpm but normally I can only goto 1700 rpm before the rear tires start spinning while staged.

I have the lowly peanut cammed 86 LB9 motor with 107,000 miles on it. Launching at 1600 rpm I run consistant 15.6's @ 86-87 mph on Goodyear Eagle GT+4's and let tranny shift itself at 4600 rpm.

Did I just happen to get lucky???
I've seen tests of 88 350's only getting high 15's. Maybe I got a ringer????

Thanks for you time...

I'm not Dana, but I think I can answer this. Your launch speeds sound about right. Most people think that "all remans are the same" and that simply isn't true. In 1987, Hydramatic really stepped up the transmission division and made some really good changes (not only to the tranny, but how they were built and parts used, etc...) So if you ordered a tranny for your 1986 Trans Am, you got all the parts and updates for your specific application.

As for your track times, they sound about right. The 350 times may be a little high. Stock, they are usually good for low 15's, high 14's/
