200c w/shift kit problems...

i was racing at the drag strip this weekend and my tranny started "bogging down" when shifting from 1st to 2nd....wether or not i shifted it manually or left it in drive...what could be the problem? i'd really like to get it taken care of soon.

Please be more detailed but from what you said it sounds like the Low Roller Clutch may have let go, jamming on. IF it can't overrun as it should after 1st gear it would bind up in two gears. You would still have reverse too.

Where did you get a shift kit for that trany and what one did you get? I'd like to put one in mine just to hold me over.

Try this: http://www.hptransparts.com/MM007.ASP?pageno=85

Keep in mind that this isn't a Boom-Boom kit but is intended to fix the many 200C tranny problems, and it does. It actually ends ip feeling like a decent 350 when installed but don't expect tire chirping shifts. Also, this is for '79-up. They don't have the listing here for the '76-'78 but I have some if you need it.

You have to realize that when I use the term Shift Kit I DON'T mean a bang-shift kit, but a genuine TransGo Shift Kit (trademark). These are intended to FIX a particular transmissions common causes of complaints and failures, not to make it shift hard. That is why it is intended for all passenger car use. These are also intended for professional use so the instructions may seem a little complicated.

thanx for the replies....the shift kit was in the car when i bought it. as far as the tire chirping shifts, i'm not worried about that, i only have a 305. it just really made me concerned when i got the whole shot and had the tranny bog down when i shifted into 2nd....ended up losing the race
