Adjustable clutch fork pivot ball ?

Has anyone installed one of these. I cant get the old one loose because part of the tranny in the way. I heard you can do it with the tranny in the car. Should i just unbolt the tranny and twist it to clear the obstruction?

To more accuratly answer your question can you explain why you need an adjustable pivot ball?
You more likely need different linkage or a throwout bearing of a different length. Really need more info. to help.

You should be able to go to a good knowledgable parts store and get a longer throwout bearing. I did this a few years back and it was for a '75 Nova, the parts guy said he could get them in three different sizes.
To verify this, check the play between the clutch and trans, it should be about an eighth of an inch min. I would guess around 1/2" would be excessive.
You'll need to remove the linkage that attaches to the fork and move it by hand to feel the gap. You may be able to see it with a flashlight.
Sorry this doesn't answer your original question but this is all I know, I've never had to use an adjustable pivot.

more travel, Yes an adjustable pivot ball will help ONLY if you have no more play in the linkage to lengthen it up, (NOT TOO TIGHT! if there is no room for the throwout bearing to come OFF the pressure plate you will DOUBLE your TROUBLE!) and the clutch fork has room to travel more to the left and right, without contacting the bellhousing on either side. I have a Muncie 4-speed and had to remove it about 13 times so far to fix your same problem and have not had any luck. My pivot ball broke recently from the wrong angle of pressure on it from the Z-bar, and to replace it I did have to remove the tranny and bellhousing and everything. Order one from lakewood, they make what you need. It should fix your problem, if you only need a little more travel.
