fluid level
does any body know where the fluid should come to on the stick of the 700 R4 when tested cold. mine leaks from some where that they told me it would cost about £1200 to fix, so leak it must but i am sick of every thing i read giving a warm to hot reading. i want to put the level right befor i go on the cruise not after

You know that you have to check it when its running? You can check it cold and you will be okay. Just as long as it's in the crosshatch area of your dipstick you are fine. If its at the bottem of the crosshatch you should add one pint or about 250ml. How do they sell tranny fluid over there? In litres or millilitres?

they sell it in liters but i hav to get it in gallons thaks for the info about the cross hatch. what are the two pips for at the bottom ?

Ive sent you an email.
If youre transmission is working OK then to cure the leak should be no prob.
The only place it could leak which would require removal of the trans,is the front oil seal.Ive done this job and if you do it yourself on a ramp it would take you a full day.
The other places it could leak are where the cooler pipes go into the passenger side of the trans,the sump gasket,or the seal where the TV cable bolts in ,or the dipstick seal and finally the rear oil seal(doubt this one though).Does it leak all the time even just on tickover or do you need to be driving it.
Our 700R4s are notorious for pushing out there front oil seals,so moch so that you can now buy seals with a lock ring on them to hold in place.
