9 bolt to 10 bolt rear Questions

I have an 89 Iroc 350 with a 9 bolt BW 2.77 rear and disk brakes. The ring gear is missing 3 teeth. So I want to drop in a used 10 bolt rear. I have found many people selling 10 bolt rear ends with drums. Is there a way to change the mounting brackets or something to bolt on my disk brakes?

Disk and drum brakes have different mounting brackets on the ends of the housing. You might be able to redrill the mounting holes but be prepared to do some modifying to get it to work. It's not a direct swap.

You'd be crazy to go to a 10 bolt. they suck. rebuild yours w/ 3.45 or 3.70 gears or get a used one.

Currently installing 3.73's into my 9 bolt (YES, it is a 9 bolt & YES they are 3.73's, not 3.70. I currently have 4.10 gear sets and new series 3 carriers in stock for 9 bolts )

I have switched my screen name from "I can't Think of anything" to "89 Iroc Z"

I would rebuilt my 9 bolt except 9 bolts are hard to find after market parts for and from what I have heard 10 bolts have more potential. So if I ever drop in a new higher output engine (which I am going to do) I will be able to modify the 10 bolt to take it. Am I correct in assuming this?

The 9 bolt is much stronger than the 10 bolt (that's why it was the high performance option). And anything that can be done to a 10 bolt can also be done to the 9 bolt.

Parts are not hard to find anymore as I (along with some others have been working on changing that. I am currently building an inventory as fast as possible and have new carriers (series 3) and 4.10 gear sets in stock.
