Shift from 2nd to 3rd early
I ran through my gears last night and had an unusual thing happen, it has nver done it to me before. I did not have an opportunity to try it again.
I dropped my 700R4 into 1, and let it get to 5500 RPM, I bumped it into second and it automatically shifted into Drive at 4500 RPM, Why did it do that. is it possible I had it between 2nd & D??
I have the TransGo shift kit.
While I am here I also have another interesting question about the downshift cable that goes to my throttlebody. I adjusted it so that it would shift at the highest RPM possible, BUT when I give it WOT it pulls it out to adjust it for about 4500RPM, can I fix this?

You probably accidently moved it into the drive position when it shifted. The TV cable is self adjusting. Trying to "tweak" it can result in tranny damage if done incorrectly. To change your shift points all you need is a different governor. One with lighter weights will shift at a higher RPM. It is not hard to change with the trans in the car (helps if you remove crossmember and lower it a bit). Just be sure to get one that doesnt shift at too high an rpm, or it will become real annoying in day to day street driving.

That downshift cable is your TV cable and you shouldn't adjust it but one way the correct way. Doing it the incorrect way can cause tranny damage.

To adjust the TV Cable skip the book method and do this: Press the D button on the adjuster and loosen the cable setting. Now, have someone floor the gas pedal while you check to see if the throttle plate is open all the way. Usually they are off a little and will wiggle. Do whatever you have to do to get it open solid. Now, with the pedal still floored, press the D button and pull the cable casing (the black tube) back as hard as you can and release the button. You now have the engine, tranny and gas pedal all in sync at WOT. Mark the cable so if for some reason it gets moved you can know where to put it again. The problem with the 'self adjust method' is that it bends things and puts them permanently out of whack. It is also the full TV setting, which is theoretically what the GM method does.
With the throttle at WOT it is up to the governor to decide when to shift. It sounds like you have the egular V-8 governor in your tranny. The SK doesn't change that.
