Ok... I dunno which to post this under... either this board or on the engine board but I'll try here. O.K. I posted another topic about my transmission getting rebuilt. I had a slight vibration to it. Now I was watching my RPM's today when I'm at a red light or when I'm in 1st or 2nd going at a steady speed like around town or neighborhood... the RPM's wanna move back and forth quickly... like... up and down like for example.... starting at the 20 and going to 22 or 23 and down to 18.. just moving all around... and when i am going it sounds like it's not speeding up right then... sometimes it will stay at the same speed then it will suddenly pick up the pace... i know NOTHING about cars i'm 16 and this is my first one. Could it be the throttle sticking??? Or something needing to be adjusted or tightened up?? **have no clue** I just had to get my transmission rebuilt and I'm having a few lil problems around my car but I do NOT wanna get rid of my car. I will fix it all and it will be perfect one day... so please help me!!! Thanks in advance!

Check the condition of your tach wire, I'm not sure of the color but you'll have 2 sets of wires hooking into your distributor on the outside.

I had exactly those symptoms and found a plug wire had come loose.

which plug wire??? also it's not just the rpm's... the car is movin with the rpm's... but my foot is not pressin the gas harder... my car feels like it'll just go the same speed the jerk forward a few rpm's/mph... and it does that a little bit... maybe something is sticking... i dunno

Possibly the torque converter clutch cycling on and off. Does it do it around 40 mph only?
