Ring & Pinion question
I just received my set of Richmond gears and installation kit today, but I want to be certain about two things.
First, the spline count is 27...thought it should be 28.....will this work?
Second, the diameter is 7.5".....thought it should be 7.625.....will this also work?
I made this clear to the rep at Summit Racing, since the web-site stated 2 different
parameters. He told me that what I ordered is what I need.
Basically, do I have the right parts for my upgrade or do I need to get knee-deep in
Summits (cannot go around the swear filter- message edited) over this?

The spine count is for your axles. Are you sure that you're counting spines and not ring gear teeth? My ring gear was 7.5", don't know if there's any difference between '88 and '92.

Richmond says its the same part for 7.5 and 7.625 rears.
All of the thirdgen rears are 27 splines.
My question is, why didn't you get the 3.73s? I went from 2.73 to 3.73 and only lost 1-2 mpg. My car runs in the powerband at all times when I ran it hard.

RagTop:
It was a close decision on what gears to choose from. Since I do mostly open road driving I wanted a gear ratio that would still keep my rpms from staying too and mileage from getting too low.
After reading several discussions on this topic I decided to go with the 3.42's because that was the general consensus.
Eventually I plan on getting a T-56...then I'll take a hard look at 3.73's
